About Us
Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here!
My name is Jocelyn, I am the wife, mom, zoo keeper, and overall chaos manager here at My Way Acres. We are a small family farm on the edge of Indiana and Ohio. Together we have seven kids, some of which have ADHD, a few with Autism, and one with all of those plus Down Syndrome. There is never a dull moment…. or a quiet one. Because of all that and more we do things a little different around here.
We homeschool some of the kids and send others to school, regardless ever-present learning is important to us on a fundamental level. Because of this I try and incorporate the kids in everything I do so that they can learn alongside me and, hopefully, through my example realize learning and growing should never stop.
We raise English Angora rabbits and occasionally breed them; but mostly they are for fiber and pets. We are looking to add sheep, alpaca, and goats to the farm once the renovations are done on the farm house. In the meantime, I enjoy seeking out local farms to source wool from.
We sell SpinOlution spinning wheels! Since I first laid eyes on these unique and innovative wheels I have wanted one. So, when presented with the opportunity to introduce them to others I jumped at the chance. With my chronic pain issues, these ergonomic wheels are just what I need at this busy time of life; and chronic pain or not, most spinners can tell you what a long session a non-ergonomic wheel can feel like!
I have always been crafty, even as a child. Building and making things made me feel whole and accomplished the same way sports did for other kids. Crafts got put aside in high school when I started juggling school work, a job, and extra curricular activities and even more so in college. It wasn’t until I got married and was given a sewing machine as a wedding present that I picked it back up again. Out of a desire to save money I learned how to sew cloth diapers for my first born and out of loneliness while his father was deployed I learned to sew other things. My oldest just turned 15, and I haven’t stopped since! The more I crafted the more it fed my soul and the more alive to my need for it I became. The internet has also grown into a place with online crafting communities where I could connect with others. This encouraged more crafting and one craft would lend itself into another. My love for all things nostalgic started me on the path of collecting antique sewing machines and then on to learning spinning and weaving. Once you get addicted to a craft or hobby you realize the cost of your addiction so I got my own fiber animals. One set of fiber animals lend themselves to another and so on……and on…
Thanks for sitting a spell and getting to know “about us”!
